Mazar-e-Sharif

Just got back from a trip to Mazar-e-Sharif. Had a good time, traveling with another US Major and Italian Major and a Spanish LTC. The town is an hour flight North of us, but lower in elevation so it was a bit warmer and dryer there. Some absolutely beautiful mountains just begging to be explored to the North. The base there is run by Germans, so we ate in the German DFAC, not bad but not great for European food. We sat in a square and my Nato friends drank real beer and I drank a passable imitation and we smoked cigards until a pair of German stand-up comics showed up. They were, apparently, very funny!

Good to see you back in action, even though it means being away from your beautiful family! Sorry about the unleaded beer … a man should be allowed to have a cold one any day.
Best wishes to your family and take care!
